At 46brooklyn, we believe the complexity of how our drugs are priced is creating serious consequences for payers, patients, and providers across this country. Our purpose is to unlock the value buried in our country’s vast but disparate drug pricing databases to bring awareness to the nature and design of this complexity. While we started with a blog, we have begun this Podcast in an attempt to reach a broader audience. Our hope is that better awareness and education will help improve the accountability of our supply chain and, in time, lead to the much-needed simplification of how drugs are priced.

Many who have followed U.S. drug pricing efforts over the years are certainly familiar with a PBM’s MAC, or maximum allowable cost, list. This episode explores MAC pricing with a focus on how a failure to agree on what a drug’s price is – as evident by the numerous drug prices that potentially exist – has created a market for MAC prices to exist.
